Big Tech firms plan nearly $5 trillion AI infrastructure spending
Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle are preparing investment plans that could total about $4.8 trillion over the next few years for artificial‑intelligence infrastructure, data‑centre capacity and high‑performance computing systems. Analysts note that while the AI sector is seen as a major driver of future economic growth, the scale of the spending carries significant risk and may not deliver the expected financial returns. Historical patterns show that only a limited number of companies have turned such massive technology outlays into sustainable profits. Investors are therefore expected to focus increasingly on the revenue potential of these projects rather than the sheer amount of capital deployed.
