Big Ten programs outline 2026-27 season outlooks at Media Days
During the Big Ten Media Days in Rosemont, Illinois, several programs discussed their outlooks for the 2026-27 season.
Nebraska men’s basketball enters the season with high expectations following a historic previous year that included a Sweet 16 appearance. Head coach Fred Hoiberg noted that the team is now ‘the hunted’ after being picked fifth in the preseason poll, despite losing key leaders Sam Hoiberg and Rienk Mast.
Indiana men’s basketball is transitioning to a more versatile roster after the departure of Lamar Wilkerson. Coach Darian DeVries highlighted increased depth, specifically in the frontcourt with the addition of Alabama transfer Aiden Sherrell and SMU transfer Samet Yigitoglu.
Purdue men’s basketball faces a period of transition as they move on from several seniors. Head coach Matt Painter indicated that the starting lineup is not yet finalized and will be determined during upcoming exhibition games.
Purdue women’s basketball is also undergoing significant changes, returning only four players from the previous roster. The team features several transfers, including Kyndall Hunter and Hannah Wickstrom, and relies on the growth of 6-foot-7 post player Avery Gordon.
