Bigbank loan portfolio reaches €3 bn as half‑year profit falls 6%
Bigbank reported that its loan portfolio grew to €3 billion by the end of the second quarter, a 6% increase quarter‑on‑quarter and 23% year‑on‑year. The deposit portfolio rose to €3.2 billion, up 6% from the previous quarter and 21% from a year earlier. Net interest income climbed 17% to €60.2 million for the first half of the year and 20% to €31 million in the second quarter.
Despite the growth, half‑year net profit slipped to €17.5 million, 1.2 million less than the same period last year – a decline of about 6%. Business loans increased 10% to €1.2 billion, mortgage loans 5% to €886 million and consumer loans 0.4% to €860 million. "Loan portfolio quality remained stable," said chairman Martin Lants, adding that consumer‑loan quality continued to improve, mortgage‑loan quality stayed very high and business‑loan quality was stable. The bank operates in nine countries and serves over 205,000 active clients.
