BigXthaPlug arrested in Texas on drug and weapon charges

Dallas-based rapper BigXthaPlug, born Xavier Landum, was arrested in Allen, Texas, on Friday, August 21, following a traffic stop. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana (less than two ounces), and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Collin County Jail.

The arrest resulted in the cancellation of his scheduled performance at the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Festival organizers initially cited a “personal emergency” for the sudden absence.

Despite the legal issues, organizers for the Iowa State Fair confirmed that the artist was still slated to headline the Grandstand on Saturday night. Reports indicated that Landum intended to fulfill that commitment, with social media posts showing him traveling to the event.

This incident follows a pattern of legal challenges for the artist. He was arrested on similar charges involving marijuana and a firearm exactly one year prior and was reportedly out on bail for those cases at the time of this latest arrest. A previous charge in Arlington earlier in 2025 was dismissed.
