Bihar and Jharkhand weather alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecasted for the Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand. In Bihar, several districts including Patna, Ara, Buxar, and Bhagalpur are expected to experience moderate rain and cloudy skies, with temperatures remaining relatively stable.

In Jharkhand, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly for August 17 and 18. Regions such as Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, and the Singhbhum districts are expected to see intense precipitation. The weather department has warned of potential lightning strikes and strong winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h, advising residents to avoid open spaces and standing near trees or electric poles during storms. The monsoon activity is expected to persist in the region through August 21.
