Bihar approved 1.1 million new homes under PMAY-G
The government has approved more than 11.18 lakh new pucca houses for families in Bihar under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) for the 2026-27 period. This announcement was made during a housing program in Patna, where approximately 2.35 lakh completed houses were handed over to beneficiaries.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary noted that since 2014, the state has seen the provision of around 50 lakh pucca houses through various government housing initiatives. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted that approximately 19 lakh homes have been allocated in the last two years alone. The initiative aims to provide permanent housing to underprivileged rural families, offering greater stability and protection from extreme weather while stimulating the local economy through demand for construction materials and labor.
