Bihar Board to replace ‘fail’ label on marksheets with skill training eligibility

The Bihar Education Department has announced a significant change to the marking policy for the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). To reduce social stigma and mental stress among students, the word ‘fail’ will no longer appear on the marksheets of those who do not meet the required marks in 10th and 12th-grade examinations.

Instead, unsuccessful students will be labeled as ‘Eligible for Skill Training’ on their marksheets. This initiative aims to encourage students to pursue vocational and skill-based training through the Bihar Mukt Shiksha Evam Pariksha Board (BBOSE).

To support academic recovery, the department will also organize one-month special classes for students appearing in supplementary exams to help improve their performance. Additionally, the state is implementing broader educational reforms, such as ‘No-Bag Days’ for creative activities in government schools and the ‘Vidya Sathi’ app to connect students with teachers.
