Bihar Cabinet approves sugar mill, new universities and dairy schemes

The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has approved 24 key agendas aimed at boosting agriculture, dairy, and education. A major highlight is the approval for a new sugar mill in Warisliganj, Nawada, which is expected to attract an investment exceeding ₹500 crore. This facility is intended to benefit farmers in the Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, and Jamui districts.

To support livestock owners, the government approved the Mukhyamantri Go-Dhan Vikas Rin Yojana, allocating over ₹1,600 crore. Under this scheme, the state will provide a 100% interest subsidy on bank loans, meaning beneficiaries will only need to repay the principal amount. Additionally, ₹126.07 crore has been sanctioned for eight dairy development projects in the Kosi region to establish 500 new milk cooperative societies and cooling units.

In the education sector, the cabinet approved the establishment of Maa Sita Mahila University in Patna and Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University in Begusarai. Administrative funds have also been allocated for the salaries and operations of these new institutions. Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned ₹33.68 crore for police equipment and ₹24.50 crore for the procurement of drones.
