Bihar Chief Minister announces new women's university and empowerment schemes

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced the establishment of a dedicated women’s university aimed at boosting female education and leadership. The institution will feature exclusively female students, teachers, and administrative staff, including the vice chancellor.

As part of the ‘Samriddh Mahila Samriddh Bihar Abhiyan’ launch, the Chief Minister also implemented several financial initiatives for women. Approximately Rs 600 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of roughly five lakh women under a women’s employment scheme. Additionally, the government pledged to spend around Rs 20,000 crore by 2030 to support ‘Jivika Didis’, members of a poverty alleviation and empowerment program.

Other newly launched initiatives include the ‘Beti Startup Challenge’, which provides financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh for women entrepreneurs, the ‘Balika PhD Fellowship’, and the ‘Police Didi scheme’.
