Bihar CM provides financial aid to taekwondo players for world championship

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for taekwondo players Bhawani Singh and Riya Singh. The athletes, hailing from the Gopalganj district, have been selected to represent India at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in Chuncheon, South Korea.

The aid was granted following appeals from the players, who were facing personal financial difficulties in covering travel and other necessary expenses for the international competition. The championship is scheduled to take place from September 16 to 20, 2026. Bhawani Singh and Riya Singh earned their spots on the Indian team through strong performances at national-level competitions.
