Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary awards students and addresses BJP by-election loss
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary felicitated 168 meritorious students who topped the 2026 Intermediate and Matriculation examinations. The awardees received medals, certificates, and cash prizes, with top performers receiving up to Rs 2 lakh. Additionally, all 168 students were provided Rs 51,000 each to purchase laptops. To ensure timely recognition, Choudhary announced that from next year, the ceremony will be held within one month of the results being declared.
In separate political developments, Choudhary addressed the Bharatiya Janata Party's recent defeat in the Bankipur assembly by-election. Following the victory of Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor, Choudhary described the loss as a 'mistake' and a 'matter of concern,' stating that the party will undergo introspection to 'fix the system.' He maintained that the single by-election result does not represent the overall mandate for the state of Bihar.
