Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary draws criticism over Ram Mandir remarks

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary sparked political debate following comments regarding the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s housing schemes. Speaking at a BJP ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ event in Patna, Choudhary stated that while the party was providing permanent housing to approximately five crore poor citizens, Lord Ram had been waiting for a home. He characterized the construction of the Ram Mandir as a fulfillment of the BJP’s ideological commitment, noting that the deity had effectively been ‘waiting in a tent’ for 400 years before the legal victory led to the temple's construction.

Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, criticized these remarks, labeling them an expression of BJP ‘arrogance.’ Kishor argued that the comments attempt to present Prime Minister Modi in a divine light. He further claimed that the government has failed to address fundamental needs such as education and employment, despite the rhetoric surrounding religious achievements.
