Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary launches massive infrastructure, tourism and education projects
On July 12‑13 2026, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated 982 urban‑development projects worth ₹1,047 crore in Muzaffarpur district, covering storm‑water drainage, smart‑city works and a new lake‑front at Sikandarpur. He announced the creation of 12 new townships, the forthcoming Muzaffarpur airport, and a Patna‑Muzaffarpur rapid‑rail corridor that will cut travel time to about 40 minutes, alongside a new architecture and civil‑engineering university at the MIT campus.
The government also launched the Mukhyamantri Bihar Heli‑Tourism and Air‑Tourism Service Scheme 2026, offering scheduled helicopter flights to major religious and heritage sites such as Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda and others. As part of the same program a Rs 165.44 crore Buddhist meditation‑experience centre was inaugurated in Bodh Gaya. A Home‑Stay Incentive Scheme was introduced, providing ₹2.5 lakh per room (with additional ₹25 k for women‑run or youth‑run establishments) for properties within five kilometres of 34 tourist sites across 16 districts.
A separate incident on July 11 saw the chief minister’s helicopter hover briefly over the Hajipur stadium after a public event; officials reported no technical fault and normal flight resumed.
