Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary sparks controversy over crime remarks

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has drawn criticism from opposition leaders following remarks regarding the state of law and order. Speaking at an event in Delhi during a Memorandum of Understanding signing between the Bihar government and the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Choudhary claimed that the concept of crime has been eliminated in Bihar.

Choudhary stated, “There is no crime here. The concept of crime has ended. Crime can happen, but not 'apradh' (offense/crime). There are no criminals.”

Responding to the video of the speech, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Chief Minister on social media. Yadav questioned the distinction made by Choudhary and directed allegations at Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the appointment of the Chief Minister. Yadav also raised questions regarding the presence of IAS and IPS officers on the same stage as Choudhary.
