Bihar CM transfers Rs 112.52 crore to flood-hit farmers

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has transferred Rs 112.52 crore in agricultural input subsidies to more than 2.48 lakh farmers. The funds were distributed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to farmers whose crops were damaged by heavy rainfall and flooding in August.

Under the Agriculture Input Subsidy Scheme, eligible farmers receive varying rates of assistance based on land type: Rs 8,500 per hectare for unirrigated areas, Rs 17,000 per hectare for irrigated areas, and Rs 22,500 per hectare for perennial crops. While 457,616 farmers applied for the subsidy, 248,704 were cleared for assistance in this first phase.

Choudhary has directed officials to launch a special campaign starting October 22, following Dussehra, to ensure that any remaining farmers affected by floods receive the necessary financial relief.
