Bihar Education Officials Attacked, Three Injured

Three officials of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) were assaulted near the Ratanpur overbridge in the Ara (Arrah) district of Bihar. District Programme Manager Rahul Kumar, a Block Programme Manager and another staff member were traveling in a vehicle when a second car intercepted them, and the occupants attacked with sticks and clubs, also damaging the vehicle.

The three officials sustained serious injuries and were taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment. After the incident, staff of the District Education Officer’s office gathered at the Mufassil police station, staged a protest and demanded the arrest of the assailants. District Education Officer Manvendra Kumar Rai visited the police station, confirmed the injuries and pledged cooperation with the investigation. Police have registered a case and are working to identify and apprehend the attackers.
