Bihar Executive Officers Murdered by Their Drivers Over Work Stress

Police investigations in two Bihar districts have revealed that municipal executive officers were killed by their own drivers. In Sasaram, the executive officer of the municipal council was shot with an iron rod by driver Mithilesh Kumar, who later confessed, saying overtime duties and workplace pressure drove him to the crime. Initial statements blamed unknown attackers, but forensic evidence showed the driver had no injuries, leading police to focus on him.

In Rohtas, a similar pattern emerged when executive officer Vimal Kumar was killed by driver Mithilesh Kumar, who also admitted the murder during interrogation, citing long‑standing overtime and reprimands as motives. The driver used a metal rod to strike the officer, and police have seized the weapon and other evidence. Both drivers have been arrested, and protests by other district executive officers have called for increased security and better working conditions for municipal staff.
