Bihar forms judicial panel to reform state examination system

The Bihar government has established a five-member expert committee to recommend comprehensive reforms to the state’s examination framework. Led by a retired Supreme Court judge or a serving or retired High Court judge, the panel is tasked with submitting its recommendations within three months.

The committee’s mandate includes reviewing procedures for secondary, higher secondary, university, professional, and recruitment examinations. Key areas of focus include preventing malpractices such as question paper leaks, impersonation, and tampering with results. The panel will also evaluate security protocols, question paper setting, and the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence to enhance transparency and fairness.

In a separate announcement, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched the ‘Vidya Sahi’ programme, a 24/7 interactive learning support initiative. This programme will provide live tutor support and digital study materials to approximately 300,000 students in Classes 9 through 12 across 700 model schools in all 38 districts. The government also reaffirmed its ₹4 lakh Student Credit Card scheme for higher education.
