Bihar to establish all-women university and launch empowerment schemes

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has launched the ‘Samriddh Mahila-Samriddh Bihar’ campaign, introducing several initiatives aimed at women's empowerment, education, and safety. A central announcement is the establishment of an all-women university where all staff, including the Vice-Chancellor, and all students will be female.

To support higher education, the government introduced the ‘Mukhyamantri Balika PhD Fellowship Scheme’, providing 10,000 rupees monthly to 1,000 female researchers. Additionally, the ‘Beti Startup Challenge’ offers financial assistance ranging from 50,000 to 2 lakh rupees to encourage female entrepreneurship. For safety, the ‘Police Didi’ initiative will deploy female police personnel near schools and colleges, supported by the allocation of 4,700 two-wheelers.

Economic empowerment measures include the transfer of 600 crore rupees to 5 lakh beneficiaries under the Mahila Rozgar Yojana. The state also aims to provide employment to 1 crore women by 2030, with a specific focus on increasing female participation in the dairy sector through JEEViKA and the establishment of Sudha sales centers in every panchayat.
