Bihar government launches Gaya manufacturing city project
The Bihar government has launched the Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) to accelerate industrial development in the Gaya-Magadh region. During an inauguration in Bodh Gaya, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced plans to provide 20,000 acres of land for industrial use by February 2027 and to develop 20,000 megawatts of power capacity, prioritizing green energy sources like solar, wind, and hydrogen.
The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) signed 12 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately Rs 4,200 crore during the launch. The broader project, part of the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor, is expected to attract total investments of Rs 16,500 crore and create roughly 110,000 jobs.
To improve the ease of doing business, the state proposes a deemed-approval system where clearances are granted automatically if not processed within 30 days. Additionally, the government plans to develop 12 townships between Gaya and Bodh Gaya and construct a corridor connecting the area to the Son River.
