Bihar government to pay influencers for promoting welfare schemes
The Bihar government has approved a new incentive scheme to pay empanelled social media creators for promoting state welfare programmes, development projects, and government achievements. Under amendments to the Bihar Social Media and Other Online Media Rules, 2026, creators can receive Rs 10,000 for every one lakh views generated by a qualifying video.
The payout for a single video is capped at Rs 1 lakh, which is reached once a video hits 10 lakh views. To qualify, influencers, social media pages, and channels must be registered and empanelled with the state’s Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD).
The policy includes a verification mechanism to ensure authenticity. The government will periodically scrutinize follower counts and engagement statistics to detect and prevent the use of fake followers, bots, or artificially generated views.
