Bihar government offers job and aid to Bharat Tiwari's family
The Bihar government has announced that it will provide financial assistance and a government job to a member of Bharat Tiwari’s family following an interim judicial inquiry report. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary confirmed the decision on social media, stating the move is based on the findings of the investigation into Tiwari’s death.
Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti village in the Bhojpur district, was killed during a police encounter on June 17. While police claimed they acted in self-defense after Tiwari allegedly attacked them with an illegal firearm, his family and local residents have contested this version. They allege that Tiwari had surrendered and was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
The incident has led to significant political tension and protests. In response to the controversy, an STF constable, Akshay Kumar, was arrested, and the then SHO, Rajesh Malakar, was suspended. The government has maintained that it is committed to an impartial investigation and will take legal action against any personnel found responsible.
