Bihar police arrest driver for molestation; CM staffer booked

Authorities in Bihar have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Vijay Kumar, for allegedly molesting a college student in the Bhojpur district. The victim sustained head injuries after jumping from the moving vehicle to escape the driver.

In a separate but related development regarding women's safety in the state, police have registered a case against a stenographer in the Bihar Chief Minister's office. The staffer is accused of posting an unblurred photograph of a minor girl, a victim of a recent harassment incident in Jamui, on Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official social media account. Although the post was deleted within 15 minutes, police stated the action compromised the privacy and dignity of the minor.

The Jamui incident, which occurred on September 19, involved the sexual harassment of a minor and the assault of a male student. The subsequent privacy breach has drawn criticism from opposition leaders, who noted it may violate the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
