Police in Motihari, East Champaran district, Bihar, carried out a large‑scale operation against an organised gang that sold counterfeit notes and lured victims with promises of doubling or tripling their money. A special team, formed after a secret tip, raided the gang’s hideout at Kuvari Devi Chowk and later in Basmanpur village of the Muffasil police‑station area.

Nine suspects were arrested, including dismissed BMP soldier Bidur Sahni, two dismissed home‑guard personnel and six other alleged members. Authorities seized counterfeit notes resembling 500‑rupee “Children’s Bank of India” notes, cut paper mimicking 200‑ and 100‑rupee denominations, cash of ₹34,000, eight mobile phones, three motorcycles, a local knife and a live cartridge. The police are continuing investigations into the gang’s network and other possible members.
