Bihar police lose custody of two wanted men after women protest
In Begusarai, Bihar, dozens of women allegedly surrounded a police team and freed two wanted men from custody on Thursday night. The incident occurred near Lohiyanagar Gumti in a slum area along NH-31.
The two men, who were wanted in connection with multiple cases under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, had been arrested during a raid following a tip-off. As police were transporting the suspects to the station in a vehicle, a group of women arrived and began protesting the arrests. The women allegedly surrounded the personnel, allowing the suspects to flee the scene.
Police officials stated they could not use force or firearms against the women during the confrontation. A search operation has been launched to re-arrest the fugitives, and authorities are investigating how the escape was permitted and whether legal action will be taken against those who obstructed the police operation.
