Bihar STF identifies 350 contract killers and launches crackdown

The Bihar Police Special Task Force (STF) has compiled a database of over 350 suspected contract killers operating across the state and has launched a special campaign to apprehend them. STF DIG Sanjay Kumar Singh reported that since January 2026, the force has arrested 1,716 hardcore and ‘top-10’ criminals, including 63 individuals with cash rewards.

The STF’s intelligence network successfully prevented 94 planned criminal incidents, including 40 murders and 48 cases of dacoity or snatching. Additionally, authorities have identified land mafias and are proposing actions to the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) regarding illegally acquired assets.

In recent operations, the STF has dismantled 33 illegal mini-gun factories, recovering an AK-47, two INSAS rifles, 398 country-made firearms, and approximately 1,300 rounds of ammunition. The National Investigation Agency is also examining aspects of the illegal arms network. The force has also intensified efforts against gangs involved in gold and jewelry robberies, recovering 10 kg of gold and 50 kg of silver so far this year.
