Bihar Police to establish District Anti-Riot Force across state

The Bihar Police will establish a District Anti-Riot Force (DARF) across all districts in the state to manage communal tensions, protests, and attacks on government property. The new units will operate at both district and sub-divisional levels, consisting of specially trained male and female personnel, medical and ambulance teams, video documentation squads, and communication forces.

Each anti-riot company will be organized into three platoons, with each platoon containing 47 personnel, including tear-gas squads, lathi-charge teams, and armed forces. To support deployment, the state has been divided into three categories (A, B, and C), resulting in the formation of 49 anti-riot companies and 294 vehicles. Patna is designated to receive three companies and 18 vehicles, while several other districts will receive two companies each.

District control rooms are tasked with relaying information to ensure the force can reach any violent situation within 20 minutes. Personnel selected for the DARF will undergo one month of specialized training at their respective district police centers.
