Bihar political leaders clash over JDU and BJP relationship
Political tensions in Bihar have escalated following a series of verbal exchanges between leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary defended JDU President Nitish Kumar, asserting that Kumar chose to step down from the Chief Minister position of his own volition in the past, rather than being pressured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Choudhary noted that Kumar remains the undisputed leader of the NDA in the state and referenced historical cooperation between the BJP and Kumar during the era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
In response to these claims, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Janata Dal (United) (JDU), labeling the party the ‘B team’ of the BJP. Yadav suggested that the JDU is losing its independent political identity and predicted a potential future merger between the two parties. Choudhary countered Yadav’s remarks by referencing the political history of Rabri Devi to challenge the opposition's stance.
