Bihar reports decline in murders, robberies and Naxal activity

The Bihar Home Department has reported a significant decline in major crime rates within the state. According to data released during a press briefing by Home Department Secretary Pranav Kumar and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, murder cases decreased by 10.1 percent compared to the previous year. Additionally, robbery cases fell by 31.32 percent, and riot-related incidents saw an 18.97 percent decline.

The department highlighted the successful elimination of Naxal-affected districts, noting that the number of such districts has dropped from 22 in 2013 to zero. The government also emphasized increased enforcement against economic and cyber offenses, alongside a zero-tolerance policy toward communalism. During the 2025-26 financial year, prosecution was sanctioned in 263 cases related to communal incidents.
