Bihar reports two separate cases of sexual assault

Two separate incidents of sexual violence have been reported in the Indian state of Bihar.

In Begusarai, a woman associated with a self-help group was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted at a hotel in the Nagar police station area. The victim reported that two men blackmailed her with obscene videos before taking her to a hotel, where they assaulted her at knife-point. The woman managed to lock herself in a bathroom and alert her family via mobile phone, who then arrived to rescue her. Police have registered a case and are investigating the role of the hotel staff and security.

In Samastipur, a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody for the sexual assault of his 4-year-old niece. The incident occurred in the Angarghat police station area while the boy was reportedly under the influence of intoxicants. The suspect, who had reportedly left school after the eighth grade, was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board following the victim's report to her family and subsequent medical examination.
