Bihar Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh Visits Odisha to Forge Sports Partnership

Bihar’s Sports and Industry Minister Shreyasi Singh undertook a four‑day visit to Odisha from July 30 to August 2, 2026, meeting with Odisha Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and senior officials including Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia. The delegations discussed cooperation on athlete exchange programmes, the use of sports science, and the scouting of grassroots talent.

During the visit Singh inspected Odisha’s world‑class high‑performance centres at Kalinga Stadium – covering shooting, gymnastics, swimming, badminton, hockey, weightlifting, indoor athletics and a sports‑science hub – and toured a kho‑kho centre and sports hostel in Puri. Both states agreed to organise friendly matches, joint training camps and seminars, and to share best practices on public‑private partnership models and the development of a proposed “Sports City” in Bihar. Bihar is also building volleyball, basketball, cricket and football facilities in every Gram Panchayat.

The officials highlighted the importance of integrating sports science into coaching curricula and promoting injury‑prevention, nutrition and rest education for athletes, aiming to strengthen the rural sports ecosystem across the two states.
