Bihar student protests draw attention to six-year-old Aditya Kumar

A six-year-old boy named Aditya Kumar has gained national attention after appearing at a student protest in Patna, Bihar. The demonstration, involving students and job aspirants, was held to demand reforms related to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) recruitment examinations.

During the protest, Aditya made pointed remarks to journalists, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and demanding action against those responsible for a lathi-charge used by police against demonstrators. The boy, who comes from a financially disadvantaged background, stated he was “exercising his rights as a citizen concerned about the future.”

Following clashes between protesters and security personnel—which included the use of water cannons and stone-pelting—police detained the child for his own safety. Authorities clarified that Aditya was not formally arrested but was held briefly before being handed over to his mother. The incident has sparked a wider debate on social media regarding the safety of children at political demonstrations and the circumstances surrounding the police response to the protests.
