Bihor County Library launches oral history project in Oradea

The Gheorghe Șincai Bihor County Library has launched a new project titled ‘Povești din cartiere’ (Stories from the Neighborhoods). The initiative seeks to record the lives and professional journeys of Oradea residents who have contributed to the city's development through various trades and sectors.

The project aims to highlight individuals from diverse fields, including art, culture, education, tailoring, jewelry, watchmaking, glassmaking, carpentry, photography, typography, architecture, construction, design, hydrology, transport, utilities, and industry. Beyond professional achievements, the recordings will capture personal stories regarding family, love, and the specific neighborhoods, streets, and landmarks that shaped the participants' lives.

Organized by the Bihor County Library and the Bihor County Council, the project will use the library's podcast studio for recordings. Interested residents can register themselves or nominate others until September 30, 2026. Participants are required to provide their full name, age, phone number, and a brief summary of their story via email.
