Bihor eliminates cash payments for vehicle registration

Starting November 2, 2026, the Public Community Service for the Regime of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration in Bihor will no longer accept cash payments for vehicle registration fees. This change applies to costs associated with license plates, preferential number assignments, number retention, and reservations.

Citizens can utilize several electronic payment methods, including the ghișeul.ro platform, internet banking, SelfPay machines, bank transfers, or postal orders. Payments for the General Directorate of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DGPCI) must be directed to the treasury account in Bucharest.

The Bihor Prefecture stated that the suspension of cash transactions aims to reduce waiting times at service counters, eliminate the need for staff to count and deposit cash, and increase overall transparency.
