Bihor police confiscate 54 cubic meters of timber

Police in Bihor County, Romania, have confiscated nearly 54 cubic meters of wood following inspections at two commercial companies in Remetea and Ceica. The investigations revealed discrepancies between physical stock and official records.

In Remetea, authorities found that a company’s records listed hornbeam firewood that was missing from the warehouse, while also holding unrecorded coniferous residues. This company was fined 5,000 lei, and both the missing firewood and the unrecorded residues were confiscated.

In Ceica, a second inspection uncovered 9.7 cubic meters of spruce wood that was not registered in the SUMAL 2.0 application. The company received a 1,000 lei fine, and the entire quantity of wood was confiscated. These actions, conducted by the Bihor County Police and the Oradea Forestry Guard, aim to prevent forestry crimes and ensure compliance with timber storage laws.
