Bijelo dugme ballad subject of historical copyright dispute

A legal dispute once surrounded the 1979 Bijelo dugme ballad ‘Sve će to mila moja prekriti ruzmarin, snjegovi i šaš’. Drago Kuđić, a poet and journalist from Semberija, claimed that certain verses and motifs were taken from his poetry, specifically citing similarities with his work ‘Majevički nokturno’.

While the court ruled in favor of Goran Bregović, Kuđić reportedly maintained until his death in 2003 that he had been treated unfairly. Kuđić was known as a reclusive bohemian who frequently shared his poetry in local cafes in Brčko.
