The mother of a young girl who was a victim of sexual abuse has begun protesting in front of the court in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. She is demanding the immediate imprisonment of an 85-year-old man who was sentenced to five years in prison last October for the sexual harassment of a seven-year-old girl.

Despite the final verdict, the perpetrator remains free nearly a year later. The victim's mother alleges that the defendant and his family are using legal loopholes, appeals, and delays to avoid serving the sentence. She also criticized the judicial process, noting that her daughter was required to testify six times.

Lepa Žunjić from the association ‘Roditelji’ expressed concern over the slow administration of justice, noting that the delay is particularly distressing because the perpetrator lives in the same neighborhood as the victim. The Basic Court in Bijelo Polje recently issued a summons for the convicted man to report on September 3 for transfer to prison, though the reasons for the long delay in executing the sentence remain unexplained.
