Bijelo Polje courts urged to enforce sexual assault conviction

Multiple non-governmental organizations have called upon the Basic and High Courts in Bijelo Polje to take urgent action to enforce a final prison sentence against Milojica Vujisić. Vujisić was sentenced to five years in prison for the sexual abuse of a seven-year-old girl.

Despite the verdict becoming final ten months ago, the convicted individual has not been sent to serve the sentence and continues to live in close proximity to the victim and her family. The victim's mother has begun protesting in front of the court buildings in Bijelo Polje, demanding the immediate execution of the sentence. NGOs have expressed concern that the delay is negatively impacting the child and the family, noting that the case has involved multiple legal hurdles and previous acquittals before the Supreme Court ultimately confirmed the conviction.
