Bikaner Congress President Madan Gopal Meghwal assaulted by party workers
Madan Gopal Meghwal, the Bikaner City Congress President, was assaulted by party workers during an office inauguration for candidate Navratan Daga. The attackers reportedly lured Meghwal outside under the pretext of conversation before physically attacking him while shouting slogans such as ‘ticket thief’.
In response to the incident, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee suspended two former councilors, Deepak Arora and Mohit Arora, from the party's primary membership for six years. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the assault as undisciplined and unacceptable, calling for the arrest of the perpetrators.
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa criticized the incident, stating that the attack on a Dalit leader is condemnable and reflects the internal fractures within the Congress party. He noted that while some officials were initially hesitant to speak, legal action and expulsions are now underway.
