Bikram Singh Majithia: Punjab Vigilance files 40,000-page chargesheet
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has filed a 40,000-page chargesheet in a Mohali special court against Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. The investigation focuses on the accumulation of disproportionate assets between March 2007 and March 2017, during the Akali-BJP coalition government.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, claim the chargesheet reveals a money trail of approximately Rs 736.96 crore. They allege these funds were routed through a network of shell companies, including Saraya Industries Private Limited, Peregrine Saraya Organics Private Limited, S.D. Beverages Private Limited, and Akash Spirits Private Limited.
AAP has further alleged that Majithia maintained connections with international drug traffickers and used these corporate structures to launder drug-related money. The chargesheet includes statements from nearly 300 witnesses and covers violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code.
