Bilal Erdoğan calls for universal justice at Istanbul symposium
Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation, called for universal justice during the 13th International Bediüzzaman Symposium held in Istanbul. Speaking at the event, which is themed ‘Quranic Solutions to Global Crises,’ Erdoğan emphasized that the value of human life should not be determined by religion, race, nationality, or passport.
Erdoğan specifically referenced the situation in Gaza, noting that the identity of a victim should not change the perception of injustice. He criticized the current structure of the United Nations Security Council, stating that the veto power held by five permanent members can override the will of the rest of the world. He remarked that political decisions—or the failure to reach them—in a meeting room can result in children in Gaza being subjected to bombardment.
The symposium, held from October 4–6 at the Atatürk Cultural Center, included various officials such as Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and religious leaders from several nations.
