Bilaspur stone-pelting clash injures five, including police

A violent clash involving stone-pelting broke out in the Khaparganj area of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, following an altercation between two individuals over an old dispute. The confrontation escalated as both parties gathered associates, leading to widespread stone-pelting that injured five people, including two police personnel.

Authorities responded by deploying over 500 police personnel to the area and imposing prohibitory orders under Section 163 to maintain order. Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agrawal stated that the incident originated as a private matter and emphasized that strict, evidence-based action will be taken against those found guilty of disturbing the peace.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh confirmed that police used moderate force to control the crowd and have established barricades and patrols in the affected locations. Multiple FIRs are being registered, including those related to property damage caused during the unrest.
