Bilawal Bhutto Zardari calls for parliamentary debate on governance and new provinces
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has challenged Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to debate the country’s political and governance failures within the National Assembly. Speaking to media in London, Bhutto Zardari criticized the notion that the nation’s fate should be decided by businessmen at business forums, arguing instead that such critical issues belong to elected representatives.
Bhutto Zardari noted that Naqvi rarely attends assembly sessions and urged him to participate in parliamentary debates rather than speaking at business forums. He expressed readiness to debate any federal minister on the floor of parliament regarding the weaknesses in the current system.
Addressing the debate over the creation of new provinces, Bhutto Zardari stated that the solutions to inflation, unemployment, and poverty lie in strengthening democracy and empowering the people rather than administrative restructuring. He emphasized that the views of the people should be reflected through their elected representatives, specifically citing Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, and Sindh.
