Bilbao begins renovation of former Ollerías schools for Casa de las Mujeres

The Bilbao City Council has commenced renovation work on the former Ollerías schools to transform the building into the Casa de las Mujeres. The project, which has a budget of 3,802,422.60 euros, is expected to be completed by November 2027.

Due to the building's historical and patrimonial protection, the intervention is designed to improve accessibility, energy efficiency, and user services without compromising its architectural value. Key upgrades include the installation of three elevators, the creation of new stairs, and the restoration of the original access staircase. To enhance energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions, the project includes thermal insulation and the replacement of window frames.

Once finished, the four-level facility will offer personalized attention through various spaces, including workshops, coworking areas, exhibitions, a library, and reception zones.
