Bilbao hosts ceremony to honor Basque traditional dance

The X Traditional Dance Thanks Ceremony was held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao to recognize the work of dancers, musicians, groups, and associations dedicated to Basque folklore. Organized by the Bizkaiko Dantzarien Biltzarra and the newspaper DEIA, the event aimed to highlight the commitment to the transmission and preservation of regional identity through dance.

During the ceremony, various institutions including the BBK Foundation, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and the Bilbao City Council were acknowledged for their support. Eight awards were presented, with the top prize going to Garaiko Dantza Taldea for their exceptional work in preserving and transmitting the traditional dances of the Durangalde region. Ander Alonso Loizategi, representing the group, expressed that the recognition was a significant honor for a tradition they have carried since childhood.
