Bilbao launches cycling initiative in Otxarkoaga

The Otxarkoaga neighborhood in Bilbao will host the first edition of ‘Domingos de la Bicicleta’ on May 10. Part of the #BiziBilbaoBizikletaz municipal campaign, the event aims to promote sustainable mobility and encourage daily bicycle use through awareness, training, and information.

The program, running from 11:00 to 14:30, includes practical workshops, family-oriented activities, and a mini-cycling parade through the streets. Specific offerings include road safety education, repair workshops to extend product life cycles, and a cycling scavenger hunt for children.

Nora Abete, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Mobility and Sustainability, announced that this is the first of four planned editions, with upcoming events scheduled for Rekalde on June 21, Abando on September 20, and Deusto on October 4. The initiative is supported by various organizations, including the Bilbao Municipal Police, DYA Bizkaia, and Decathlon.
