Bild editor Marion Horn declares editorial stance against AfD

Marion Horn, the editor-in-chief of the Bild group, has publicly declared a strong editorial stance against the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. In recent interviews, Horn stated that her personal position is reflected by a poster in her office featuring the slogan ‘Fuck AfD’.

Horn noted that editorial meetings frequently involve discussions to ensure the publication's content does not inadvertently sound as if it supports the AfD gaining power. She addressed concerns regarding journalistic neutrality, admitting that avoiding photos with AfD leader Alice Weidel could be considered ‘unjournalistic’.

Regarding the potential impact on readership, Horn claimed that surveys indicate AfD voters make up less than ten percent of the Bild audience, despite the party's higher national polling numbers. She emphasized that the newspaper's role is to criticize the government rather than act as a PR tool for the ruling coalition, noting that readers often encourage harsh criticism of the government to avoid feeling driven toward the AfD.
