YENİ Parti faces internal disputes and financial allegations
The YENİ Parti is navigating multiple internal and external crises. In Kayseri, candidates İbrahim Kaan and Nazlı Erdoğan have criticized the newly determined provincial management and delegate lists, alleging a lack of inclusivity and accusing the leadership of favoring a narrow circle of associates.
Financially, the party is embroiled in a dispute with the CHP regarding funds from the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). CHP Group President Faik Öztrak alleged that funds belonging to the CHP were misappropriated during the transition to YENİ Parti. YENİ Parti Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir denied these claims, stating the money was collected by MPs through group decisions to cover collective expenses and is not part of the party's institutional accounts.
Additionally, YENİ Parti spokesperson Zeynel Emre raised allegations regarding a fund crisis, suggesting that Merrill Lynch benefited from timely information, resulting in an 8 billion lira gain. This led to criticisms regarding the ethics of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek’s past professional ties to the institution.
On a local level, the party has seen significant movement in İzmir, where approximately 200 members resigned from YENİ Parti to rejoin the CHP. Meanwhile, in Muğla and Tokat, the party has completed provincial congresses, with Nail Kızıl re-elected as Muğla Provincial Chair and Çağdaş Kurtgöz elected as Tokat Provincial Chair.
