Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyesi advances İznik‑Gölcük connector road
Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyesi is upgrading the road that links İznik in Bursa Province with the Gölcük district of Kocaeli, creating an alternative route and shortening travel distance. The works on the Hacıosman‑Eriklitepe stretch cover about 6 700 metres in length and 8 metres in width. Construction includes the placement of roughly 17 000 tonnes of fill and a continuous application of about 10 000 tonnes of hot‑mix asphalt.
The municipality says the upgraded corridor will provide safer, more comfortable travel for residents and is considered a strategic link for the region. Deputy mayor Şahin Biba highlighted the 24‑hour effort of the road‑building teams and said the project will greatly ease transportation once completed. Local mayor Metin Arslan praised the investment, noting its importance for the community.
When finished, the road is expected to enhance connectivity between the two provinces, support local economies, and reduce travel times for commuters and freight traffic.
