Bilecik Municipality hosts community tomato paste making event

The Bilecik Municipality has launched its first annual ‘Salça Yapım Günleri’ (Tomato Paste Making Days) at the Karasu Vadipark area. Under this initiative, ten families gather each day to produce tomato paste, with the municipality providing all necessary supplies such as salt and spices, while citizens only need to bring their own tomatoes and peppers.

The event aims to boil 150 cauldrons over a 15-day period to produce a total of 6,000 jars of paste. Due to high public demand, Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı announced that the event has been extended until September 6.

Mayor Subaşı noted that the program fosters a sense of solidarity and cooperation within the community. Local residents expressed satisfaction with the municipal support, stating that the organization makes the traditional paste-making process significantly easier.
